Congrats IV team... you've proved yourself today.

However this is only the start... we have a lot of things to accomplish once we return from the celebrations :
- recapture 200K+ unused EB visas
- abolish per country limits on EB visas
- Increase EB visa share by 50K (now that DV is gone)
- 3 yr EADs and APs
.... Any other bright ideas invited...

Not limiting ourselves to "professionals"...
J. M. Coetzee came to the US from South Africa as a student. He got his Ph.D. in (English) literature from the University of Texas, Austin. Worked as a professor in the US for many years.
His application for green card was treated almost with contempt! It was rejected.
He left the US, but occassionally visited top English/Literature departments in the US for brief periods, lecturing and collaborating.
He was awarded the Nobel prize in literature in 2003. He is now settled in Australia.
I could go on and on and on ...

Change this title to december06 marathon.
We should have one marathon every month and there will be members willing to contribute $20 every month. By changing the title to december marathon, we would psychologically make people to get ready for every month. This way, we do not have to put effort every time to members think about contributing.
Contributing will become their routine part of thinking and also $20 is not a big deal for our cause.
I am ready for $20.00 every month from now on. THere will be lot of guys like me and the change in title will make it happen by creating this title every month and keeping it on home page/top.

Hi,
I read a posts by you all on immigration voice which said U.S newspapers can easily publish a name change Ad for $70!! But I hear that they need some kind of a court order to do that...Can I ask you which paper did you advertize in India and in U.S. I have the same problem as many others -- I have only one name on my passport "Kritee" and U.S. embassy when they gave me visa made it FNU (as first name) Kritee (last name). Now I want to add a first name to my passport and all documents in U.S...and am wondering if I need to go to a U.S. court or not? All and any help will be appreciated!

Just like with individuals, we tend to place trust on organizations and instituitions based on their past behaviors / actions. It's obvious we have very little trust on USCIS.
I think there is some misunderstanding on the memo bein discussed.
I'm still betting USCIS has a (reasonably accurate--- give or take a thousand) tally of pending India / China EB2 I-485s that match the available GC visa numbers which have to be used up before Sep 30th. All they have to do is assign visa numbers before September 30th. It is quite possible for them to process the applications and assign the visa numbers at the end. Most likely approvals will come well into October.

We have 1485$ holiday contributions so far and one 50$ contribution on this thread. We need more.
Here is something to read for you:

This amendment was PASSED although the CIR bill failed to survive.
In other words, if there had been a bill only to address EB GC reforms, there was a great chance YOU would be able to file for your I-485 even if your PD was not current!
IV in 11/2007:
1) IV has 25000+ members.
2) The EB GC reforms proposed and passed as an amendment in mid-2006 are long overdue!
3) IV has gathered a lot of admiration and attention after the flower campaign/ SJ Rally-> leading to the July VB reversal, and of course the DC rally!
Even if 2500 of them pay $50 a month, IV would have a steady flow of $125000 a month for lobbying efforts.
Just imagine what IV could accomplish in the next few months, if only people realized how important it is for them to sign up for monthly contributions!

I see so many posts about people correcting names in passports. Just wondering once you change your name in passport, doesnt it get inconsistent with the name in visa and other US documents ? Did anyone get US documents corrected based on name change in passport ? I believe once you make correction in passport, to make any changes to name in visa or US documents you need a US court order for name change otherwise there will be problems in H1/ EAD/ AP extensions. Anyone with experience please advice.

I-485, EAD, AP applications sent at Texas center.
Mailed documents June 30th.
Documents reached USCIS July 2nd in the morning.
I-140 - LUD was August 5, 2007
Checked with employer-Checks encashed on August 13, 2007.
Got 6 SRC #s. 3 for me and 3 for my spouse.
I-485, EAD, AP applications sent at Texas center.

pappu, pls let me know, if u received the fund. Also, one small suggestion, we can just maintain a small excel sheet, to just see who (just the user id and not the actual name) contributed and how much money they contributed just in this campaign. Cos, I hate to say this, I just dont want to be around those who want to have a free ride from all the hard work that IV group is putting in. Please everyone please donate. If you are reading this post, if you have not contributed earlier, please contribute. Dont you want IV to become strong financially when fighting this tough case. They need all the help they can get. Hi,
I am married and my husband is working in US on H1B visa. I came into the country with an L1 visa in Dec '06. The I 94 is valid till Oct 2009.
In Apr 2007, I applied for my H1B and it was approved with a start date of October 2007.
I quit my company by end of May 2007. Since the H1B was NOT applied with COS, I applied for my H4 last week but I have not got the approval notice for H4 yet. :(
Is it still possible for my husband to file my 485 along with his? What do I enter for questions regarding my current status?? Can I say that my current status is H4 and give the "valid till" date as the end date of my husband's H1B date?
Please help!!!

This time USCIS is hiding by not making official announcements.
We need to act as we did last July.
Lets send letters to congressman like zoe lofgren.
NSC is issuing frivolous RFEs as delaying tactics.
I am not seeing similar outrage as we saw last year.
The time to act is now.
Totally understand where you are coming from and what you are trying to say. We all need to be engaged more actively. However, in this thread, you are likely to receive more posts with the message -
"Are u blind - we are organized, we are asking each other questions about each other's status, tracking every LUD change, comparing status of each other, voting for and against in all the Eb2/Eb3 polls, always suggesting, supporting and arguing for changes that perfectly fit with my gc application, arguing why country of origin is so bad, why America has nothing to offer, unless I get my gc tomorrow, how this country has the opportunity to become great if they give me gc, what are lawmakers doing, why did they not pass laws to fix the problem of highly skilled idiots sorry, I mean highly skilled professionals, what is core doing, are they not our servants? What more do you want? Before Senators vote on the floor of the Senate, they will logong to this this site to learn what HIGHLY SKILLED IMMIGRANTS because if it was not for these HIGHLY SKILLED, the world will come to a screeching halt.
