I decided to move to india now. I have I140 cleared and having a permanent job. But enough is enough!
I started looking openings at india 2 weeks ago and most probably will get a offer from a US financial giant having IT shop at bangalore.
I think this is right decision at this time.

I applied for passport renewal (Chicago consulate) without name change form. In the Online application, I splitted the name as needed (earlier my name was under Given name). The renewal passport was sent to me with the way I entered the name (splitting) without any additional forms or affidavits.

Just ignore the accusations. Two things here. Firstly, people are really frustrated here with all the GC stuff. Secondly, there has been lot of Anti-immigrants coming in and trying to disrupt the forums, making people inherently suspicious.

The media needs to know, I do not have any idea how.
Media will know - if we get enough numbers. I am already in touch with a couple of journalists but the critical thing is to get a good number to make a media event out of it. The current poll shows 53 Ayes and 124 Nays - well that's not going to cut it. We need more people to order tomorrow otherwise delivery window for Tuesday morning will be shut off.

What I was saying is that if we take the majority of the posters who have responded / posted in this thread, we are seeing an overwhelming majoiry who support and /or sympathize with the pregnant girl. I had the exact same question. If one responds to an RFE on his/her I-485 app, is there no place on the online status description where we can find the original receipt date?
Also, can one assume that his/her case has is pre-adjudicated, if there are no further requests from USCIS after an RFE reponse from the applicant?

Thanks man. My decision was mainly based on the waiting period. Within 4-5 years I can get ultimate post based on my experiance at india but here I have to be in same role.

That sounds like a good plan, but I didn't see a provision for people applied for I-485 and waiting for their dates to become current to add their spouses ? ( Disclaimer : I'm not one of them :) ) How is that going to get tackled ?

Are you aware of State Deptt URLs that explain current immigration rules (similar to IRS rules) as following.
Someone posted a URL that requires a good choice of search words. Such a process may not get all info specially for a novice like me. Thanks.
that's right the actual law had two words that could change the actual meaning of how they are supposed to do it (ie., vertical versus horizontal). Some people (i was one of them) thought that at such a stalemate in the words that coomon sense should prevail. Common sense would dictate that skill would prevail over diversity.
However; the rules were always such that there was never any horizontal spillover but rather vertical. The main thing that changed was that the unused visas from row could be used by retrogressed countries quarterly rather then annually.

If what you are proposing happens, boy-o-boy!!! lot of head aches and tension would go away for folks who have applied their I-485 and waiting for a long time. first: my use of an extreme exemple to explain the EB category difference seems to have caused misunderstanding and offence amomg some people. this was not the intention, no slight was intended to anyone. sometimes one uses an extreme situation to make a point (3 yr degree in this case). I was not trying to stereotype and if that is how it came through...here is my humble apology.
i did reply to some of the posters by pm and had some intersting comments/discussion. its one of the nice things about this forum that people bring different insights into a problem...
qvadis, there is fundamental difference between allotting Employment based Gc on the basis of country of birth and based on job classifications/requirements. One happens to pertain to employment, the other is simply a way to mantain ahem "purity".
having said that, i do not favor the removal of country quotas in isolation- the redistribution of dates would make things better for long suffering people but it would not change the overall picture. therefore i support the package in its entirity (as does IV), ie recapture + STEM exemption + removal of country quotas. this would bring in substantially increased numbers and resolve the problem with ROW dates.
now that its established that this thread will not go back to its original intent, do the OPs mind if i close it? may be best to restart the discussion in a new thred?
